Terrazzo Tree

TERRAZZO TREE AND BRANCHRACKS

We were asked to create an artwork that celebrated 175 years of Adelaide City council as well as an artwork that would help reiterate Council's commitment to building a greener city.

Together with Monterrazzo we created the Terrazzo Tree.

In thinking about the 175-year history of the Adelaide City Council it was impossible to select 1 or 2 moments, events or people to celebrate on their own.

The idea of including all these moments led us to the visual representation of a timeline or family tree, with 175 branch ends.

It seemed fitting to choose the tree motif in particular as it also incorporated the commitment that council has made to build a greener city.

Along with the terrazzo floor we made some new Branchracks with Tom Reeves of  Bronzewing. The Branchracks not only help facilitate the many bikes that are parked at Council every day but also add to the new ‘green’ council façade.
