I have extensive experience working within the public art sector in South Australia. For over a decade I was a co-director of CHEBart, and have contributed to creating, restoring and planning public art installations across the state.
Originally trained as a glassblower, I am skilled in working with stone, timber, concrete, terrazzo, metal, glass, bronze, and various processes in my art practice. I have significant experience working collaboratively and as part of a team with other professionals on large projects. I have a thorough understanding and experience working on projects from concept and design phases through to on site installation, having completed over 20 public art projects in South Australia. This practical knowledge in public art has given me great depth and understanding of the challenges faced when commissioning, making, installing and maintaining public art.
I have excellent organisational and administration skills, am an experienced project manager, having worked on a variety of projects. I have managed and worked within teams on complex projects involving multiple stakeholders, as well as working with individual artists and clients on smaller scale planning. I am interesting in making this a more tangible part of my practice and find ways to connect with people to collaborate with and projects that I can be a part of.
More recently I have worked independently with different councils, individuals and organisations in a project management capacity, to deliver a variety of projects from exhibitions, to public artworks and developing public art strategies. This aspect of my practice is particularly rewarding, as it allows me to utilise my years of hands on experience in the public art sector, and work on projects where I am not the lead creative but can have a positive impact on the success of a project.
